i have a 2005 troy built 42 inch cut riding mower, while running it starts to cut out and begins smoking really bad, then stops smoking and regains full power,it does this for about ten minutes and then it runs fine, doesnt do it every time i cut, only like two times out of ten, opened the hood while it was doing it one day and saw what appeared to be oil spitting out from the bottom part of the motor,i think it was hitting the exhaust and causing the smoke,it was black oil splattered on the inside of the mower, however i check oil every time and it looks clean, does it have a gasket that may be blown,or a cracked head,i looked on the parts list and doesent show a head gasket,,,,,the sk=moke is white and thick, but not a sweet smell, only smells like burnt oil,,,,im going to pull it all apart, just wanted some ideas, and was wandering how it could have been black oil down there and clean on the stick,,,,,,,,,,
i love you guys,is there anything you really know about, just remember your best thinking got you right where you are today
